The Most Dangerous Time of the Day

It’s a campaign to further raise awareness about the importance of engaging and activating kids and teens during “The Most Dangerous Time of the Day”—the after school hours.

It used to be referred to as “Latch Key Kids.”

It’s the time of day when kids and teens are most likely to fall between the cracks—drugs, gang violence, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, drinking and driving, the list goes on.

It is up to communities to engage and activate kids and teens in safe spaces–schools, community centers, recreation centers, and churches or other faith-based locations–with after school activities that offer homework help and learning support, working with mentors, developing leadership skills, and building “Healthy Mind, Body, Spirit, People, and Planet.”
